LONDON — It took awhile, but it’s happening: Audra McDonald is heading to London to make her West End debut, as Billie Holiday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.”

The production, which tracks the jazz singer’s final days, will open at Wyndham’s Theater in June. The show had originally been scheduled for the summer of 2016, but Ms. McDonald announced in the spring that she was pregnant and she postponed her appearance. (She also left the Broadway production she was starring in at the time, “Shuffle Along.”)

“Lady Day” centers on a performance by Ms. Holiday in Philadelphia in 1959. Ms. McDonald won her sixth Tony Award for playing Billie Holiday on Broadway in 2014, and she has more of the awards for performing than any other actor.
